Foulds School

Sports Premium

What is PE and Sport Premium?

Since September 2013, the government has been providing additional funding for Physical Education (PE), to improve provision of PE and sport within primary schools.

This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools.

Funding for schools is calculated by reference to the number of primary-aged pupils (between the ages of 5 and 11), as recorded in the annual schools census.

Click here for further information on the Department for Education's website.

How Foulds spent the 2024-25 sports premium funding?

  •  CPD for all staff to have First Aid training

  • Continued membership of the Barnet Partnership for School Sport which allow entry to Borough's leagues, cups, competitions, festivals and access to CPD

  • Renewed subscription to Complete PE which maps and provides resources for all PE units for the 2 year cycle from EYFS to upper KS2

  • Swimming subsidies to ensure all children in KS2 attend swimming lessons, including those who need extra lessons to meet the government Y6 targets

  • Invested in equipment to improve PE lesson, clubs, playtimes and outdoor classrooms

  • Set up a lunchtime club to support SEN children's engagement at playtimes

  • Provided cover to allow teachers and TAs to take teams to interschool PE competitions. This year saw us enter a record number of inter-school events including: Football (girls and mixed league, cup and events for Y12, Y3, Y4, Y5, Y6 teams plus B, C teams and inclusive events), rugby, netball, Sportshall Athletics (indoor), Copthall track and field athletics, Cricket league and cricket tournaments, Cross Country, Dodgeball, Dance, Golf and Y34&Y56 Tennis

Volunteers

In addition to the above funded by the Sports Premium money - we also have teachers, TAs, parents and pupils all volunteering their time for free to create further sporting opportunities.

Thank you to those all those who: volunteered to run extra-curricular clubs this year, involved in inclusive events, ran interhouse competitions for Y34 & Y45 (Football, Netball, Gymnastics), KS1 & KS2 Sports Days and events outside the Sports Partnership such as the Y6 Micromarathon with other local schools.

Thank you to the Sports Captains and House Captains and other young leaders for leading daily lunchtime  activities and supporting other sporting events throughout the year. Thank you to pupils involved in School Council and Pupil Voice for providing ideas and feedback.

Thank to Mr Dillon and MGM cars for sponsoring two new football goals and to those who have support at linked clubs in the community such as Old Elizabethans Cricket Club, Barnet Elizabethan RFC and Ravenscroft Park Tennis Club.

Extra-curricular Sports Clubs

Our clubs are run by a mix of external coaches, staff and parents. Capacity, participation and variety of provision were at a record high in 2024-25.

This year we added a KS1 cricket club and KS1 multi sports club to our extra-curricular club offerings. These will return in 2025/26 alongside KS1 NSA football, KS2 NSA football, Squad football training, 2x Gymnastics Club, KS1 Running Club, KS2 Running Club, Boxing, KS2 Cricket Club, Dance Club and Netball Club.
